Happy Hair

Discussion points:

  • Why do we have hair?

  • What do you like to do with your hair? In which different ways can you style or arrange it?

  • Do you like to wear things in your hair?

  • You can also talk about boundaries, how we shouldn’t just start playing with other people’s hair, unless they have asked us to!

  • You can also talk about hygiene, washing, brushing, combing, the various implements to style hair and how we might have different styles for different occasions.

  • The video features lovely people from all over the world who sent in their videos of them enjoying their hair and celebrating the differences. Some people, for many reasons, also do not have hair. You can talk with your children about choices - for example, it is important for us to cover our scalps to protect us from the sun rays, and to keep warm in the winter. You can talk about the the use of wigs, and your students might know people in their family who choose different options due to hair loss - or for some people, they have no hair by choice.

The main point of the message behind this video is to show how we all have different hair, (or none) and that we are all beautiful and we all have value! Let’s celebrate our heads and our hair!
